First Philosophy Post.

The first post in this blog will be one of philosophy. And not just philosophy in general, but the philosophy of religion. I have looked at and written about many different aspects of religion. From the many differing religions to the purpose of religion even existing. This post, however, will contain a short treatise on a possible new religious system.

Treatise on the Possibility of Multiple Gods Being Facets of a Singular God

It is found in most religions that there is not a singular God, but multiple Gods that have control, or dominion, over specific acts, states of being, consequences, etc. Yet, in the religions of Christianity and its kith and kin there is only one God, one Supreme Being that has dominion over everything. Each religious following believes that their religion is correct and that all others are false. (Except, of course, for those Atheists and Agnostics, but for the sake of this Treatise we shall forget about them.)
There have been Holy Wars for as long as there has been religion. Each war fought by the followers of whichever religion they belong to for the sole purpose of keeping their religion, which they believe to be true, intact. Dominance was their goal and some won and others lost. Religious dominance would change depending on the rise and fall of empires until some semblance of religious tolerance was reach in the mid- to late 16th century. And tolerance has worked all the way up to the present.
However, what if tolerance became insufficient? Such seems to be happening within the terrorist organizations; they won’t tolerate the multi-cultural capitalism that is spreading amongst the nations. They seek to annihilate what they can’t accept, and perhaps they might one day succeed. There might come a day when separate religions will no longer work because all the others think that theirs is correct and won’t tolerate anything else. But I propose a compromise. There is a possibility that all religions could actually be one religion.
Some may argue that this could never be, due to the fact that in Christianity there can only be one God, but there are many religions that have multiple Gods. If that be your argument I may have something for you to consider. Take for example the Pagan witchcraft religion of Wicca. They adhere to four beings, or Gods, called Watchtowers that reside in the four Cardinal directions of North, South, East and West. This would go against the Christian belief in one God; unless you adopt the thinking that those four different Gods are merely facets (or fragments or parts) of one singular God. This is possible because according to Christian belief that God is omnipresent, that He is everywhere. By that logic God can be all things at once or all things separately. So, instead of focusing on the “big picture” you can focus on the one small part of the larger God that you wish to.
Another example of what I propose can be found in Greek mythology. Poseidon was the God of the sea and the God that sailors of that age would pray to. Going by my proposition, Poseidon is its own entity, and also a part of a larger God. Hence, whether you prayed to the Christian God or to Poseidon wouldn’t matter for they would have the same effect. If my idea were realized, it would be a step toward world unity and the end of terrorism. Without the difference in religion many cultural gaps could more easily and readily be bridged. This being the case, a singular, unified religion would be more beneficial to mankind than the current religious separatism.
